Pete Thomson
Deputy Executive Director
As Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl’s Deputy Executive Director, Pete oversees Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl’s publications and communications, including The New Physician magazine and Weekly Consult newsletter, and works with Communications and Marketing Department staff members and consultants on the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl website and social media channels. Pete also works closely with other members of Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl’s senior staff on strategy and management decisions.
Pete started at AMSA as TNP‘s associate editor in 2004. Before joining the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl staff, Pete wrote for the Syracuse Post-Standard, Travel Today Egypt and Arabia magazines, and was associate editor for news wire services at the Federal Document Clearing House. He holds a master’s degree in magazine, newspaper and online journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, an A.B. in history from Davidson College, and a superfluous certificate of intermediate Arabic language studies from the American University in Cairo. Pete lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his spouse, Melissa, their son, and some plants.
